The Types and Functions of the Family
A family is one of the most important unit in society. It is also the basic child-raising unit, the basic communication and friendship unit. This institution was first establish by God and of such, it is of great importance. A family is defined as a group of people that is related by blood, adoption or marriage.These people usually share the same morals, values and beliefs.

There are many types of families in our society , however the four basic of these are , the Nuclear family , which consist of both parents with one or more children; the Single -Parent family which consist of one parent with one or more children; the Extended Family which consist of grandparents, parent and children and the Sibling Family in which a bigger brother or sister acts as a parent. Although there are different types of family they are all importance especially to its members and carry out many functions. Some of which are to provides for its members:
- Shelter, food, clothing, love, healthcare and education.
- Emotional, Social,Physical and Spiritual stability
- Reproduction and procreation
- Socialization
- Sexual needs
